Named East Anglia State School of the Decade by The Sunday Times in 2021, CRGS is a selective day school for boys aged 11 – 18 years and co-educational in the Sixth Form. It is one of very few state boarding schools, with a family-style boarding house designed for 30 Sixth Form students. Founded in 1206 and granted two Royal Charters, by Henry VIII in 1539 and by Elizabeth I in 1584, it has a history of scholarship dating back to the sixteenth century. ‘Pupils say school is a safe and enjoyable place to be’ (Ofsted, Feb 2022) and central to the ethos of our school are the core values: Compassion, Respect, Generosity and Support.
